PANJIM: All hotels and restaurants and other eateries in the capital city will now have to display their ratings on the entrance door as Panjim has been selected for EatSmart Cities Challenge.
The Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP) in its ordinary meeting also proposed setting up of food vending zones under the Smart City Mission.
After the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) in March this year selected Panjim and 10 other cities across the country for EatSmart Cities Challenge, the FDA officials gave a power-point presentation to the CCP councillors about the EatSmart Cities Challenge to introduce hygiene ratings.
The CCP meeting also approved a proposal to declare the capital city as a 3-Star rating compliant for garbage free city mission; procurement of waste management machineries for Material Recovery Facility (MRF) under SBM funds and additional qualified personnel for the waste management cell on contract basis.
The meeting decided to revise house tax and to impose uniform tax for all commercial buildings and offices situated at the Patto, Panjim. The CCP had earlier revised house tax as per the zonings.
Meanwhile, the issue of the National Theatre has now been referred to the government to take a decision in the best interest of the Corporation.
