Now, Panjim to become part of GPPDA

PANJIM: After Taleigao, now Panjim will be part of Greater Panaji Planning and Development Authority (GPPDA). It is currently part of North Goa PDA.
Speaking to media persons on Tuesday, GPPDA Chairman Atanasio ‘Babush’ Monserrate said that during the next board meeting of Town and Country Planning (TCP) Department, the decision to bifurcate Panjim from NGPDA would be taken. “Panjim would be brought under GPPDA,” he said.
Monserrate said that inclusion of Panjim in GPPDA is not a new decision but pending for long time. “The earlier decision was held back because former Chief Minister and Panjim MLA Manohar Parrikar did not want it to be part of GPPDA,” he said.
“Parrikar wanted Panjim to be under NGPDA, which was that time under Michael Lobo. But now, I am the MLA of Panjim so also chairman of GPPDA,” he said.
Monserrate was appointed as GPPDA chairman last week along with Francis Silveira as chairman of NGPDA.
During his earlier term as chairman, Monserrate had included Taleigao into GPPDA last year.
