PANJIM: Tourism Minister Rohan Khaute on Friday said that the government is in the process of making No-Objection Certificates (NOC) from the tourism department mandatory for every tourism-related activity in the State.
Khaunte said that all hotels as well as clubs and restaurants within the hotels need to obtain NOC from the tourism department while there was no such compulsion for standalone restaurants.
“We are getting this order in place. There was a gap here. Standalone restaurants, cafes, wellness centres, etc will now have to take a NOC from the tourism department to be termed as legal, as they are all a part of tourism activities, ” he said.
Reacting to the demolition of the controversial Curlies Beach Club at Anjuna, Khaunte said that the demolition has sent a strong message that the government will not compromise and accept illegalities which are happening on the beach belt. Illegalities have to stop, he added.
