NRGs to go on electoral rolls

PANJIM, NOV 2 There is some good news to the Goans working abroad as the Election Commission (EC) has finally taken a decision to register their names in the electoral rolls. The Election Commission which kicked-off its special summary revision programme of photo electoral rolls from yesterday also intends to register Goans working in foreign countries in the rolls, a top official said here today.

There is some good news to the Goans working abroad as the Election Commission (EC) has finally taken a decision to register their names in the electoral rolls.
The Election Commission which kicked-off its special summary revision programme of photo electoral rolls from yesterday also intends to register Goans working in foreign countries in the rolls, a top official said here today.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday here Ganesh Koyu, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), said they intend to contact Goans working abroad through their families and get photo registration done.
He however acknowledged that they will face multiple problems in getting photo registration done.
 “If there is someone here to certify the voter, the photo registration will be done,” said the CEO.
ONLINE REGISTRATION – No more standing in a queue for long hours just to get your name registered on the electoral roll. 
Within next fifteen days Election Office (EO) plans to start with online registration.
The Chief Electoral Officer Ganesh Koyu said though the  software  for online  registration is ready it could not be started as security arrangements are yet to be put in place  however all should be ready in a few days time.
“We should able to have online registration in fifteen days time,” he said.
