PANJIM, Dec 11
The National Security Guard team wrapped up their two-day long visit to Goa after inspecting ministerial block at Porvorim.
The five-member team was down in Goa to oversee the security arrangements at vital installations. Police spokesperson Atmaram Deshpande said that during their visit they took stock of the important installations and related security arrangements.
“Today they visited ministerial block culminating their two-day long visit,” Deshpande said. The team led by a NSG Captain Suraj Ray Lala on Friday examined the security at the Secretariat, Assembly and Raj Bhavan.
Mumbai-based team was accompanied by senior officials from the Secretariat, Goa police and Public Works Department.
“The security inspection by the NSG is after orders from the Union Home Ministry,” said a source.
The State will take higher precautions now with the peak tourist season attracting lakhs of visitors to the beaches. Goa is on alert usually during Christmas and New Year season, as terror groups might target the foreigners who come here in large numbers.
