PANJIM: Though National Students Union of India (NSUI), the Congress student’s wing, did not contest the posts for the Goa University Students Council election, it has claimed victory as nominations filed by Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) were rejected. Vikram Gawade is likely to head the students’ council.
Addressing media persons, NSUI Goa president Ahraz Mulla said that NSUI Goa won 75 percent of the university class representative (UCR) and university faculty representative (UFR) elections all over Goa and the rejection of BJYM nomination for the council posts is their ultimate victory.
“We had promised that we will not allow BJYM to even contest the election by ensuring that they don’t have the required number of proposers and seconders to even file nominations,” he said.
Eight out of nine nomination forms of BJYM were rejected by the university’s directorate of students’ welfare.
