PANJIM: A delegation of State unit of National Students Union of India (NSUI) on Tuesday met the Secretary (Education) and Governor demanding strict action against the principal of Kare Law College, Margao, for allegedly committing fraud in BA LLB entrance examinations and to accommodate deserving students by using old evaluation method.
During their meeting, the NSUI alleged that there are fraudulent activities associated with the examination, involving the principal of Kare Law College. This year, the entrance exam for BA LLB was conducted by Kare College of Law. But it was not conducted as per the rule, which states that 50 per cent weightage of marks should be given to Goa Board exams and 50 per cent weightage of marks should be given to entrance examination.
The NSUI charged that the Principal of Kare Law College changed the evaluation process to pave the way for his son, who had scored less in Board exam. Hence, he didn’t consider the marks of the Board exam and considered only 100 per cent marks of the entrance examination to make sure his son gets admission, who had scored only 61 per cent in Goa Board examinations.
NSUI State Naushad Chowdhari said that it was illegal as per Goa University Statute and Goa Board Act to set the examination papers by the principal if his son is answering the exam. In this case someone else should have set the papers, he said adding that the principal had violated the Statute and therefore whole process was illegal.
