NSUI demands jabs for students, youth

PANJIM: The National Students Union of India (NSUI), Goa unit on Friday strong demanded that the Government of India should make vaccine against COVID-19 available to the youth and the student community as well.

“Youth and students are the future of our country and our health has to also be the priority,” said NSUI Goa President Ahzar Mulla during celebration of NSUI’s 50th foundation day at a function held at the Congress House, Panjim.

The foundation day was celebrated by hoisting the NSUI flag and honouring and paying respect to former Prime Minister late Indira Gandhi. Speaking on the occasion, NSUI State President Ahraz Mulla spoke about the history of NSUI, which was formed by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on April 9, 1971, when she observed that students’ activism was growing across the country. She wanted to encourage students to be future leaders, he said.

NSUI North Goa President Naushad Chowdhari informed that NSUI was the largest students’ democratic and secular organisation which had its branches across India. 

“Whenever a student in Goa faces a problem related to educational field they always call us because they have faith in NSUI that we will redress their issues,” he added. NSUI State General Secretary Prasanjeet Dhage and member Alvaro Ferrao present for the programme.
