PANJIM: National Students Union of India (NSUI) Goa Unit has strongly condemned the unlawful act by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) members, who on Saturday barged into the campus of St Xavier’s College in Mapusa and allegedly disrupted classes over delay in constituting the student’s council.
Addressing mediapersons on Sunday, NSUI Goa President Naushad Chowdhari alleged that ABVP is an RSS and BJP government sponsored organisation which is entering educational institutions unlawfully to spread the ideology of communalism and hatred of RSS among students.
He said that with the blessings of the ruling party, ABVP has created law and order situation right from Goa University to now St Xaviers. “We strongly condemn the cowardly act by RSS backed ABVP. This is done with the blessings of ruling party,” he said.
Meanwhile, NSUI had called on the Vice Chancellor of Goa University demanding that they should desist from conducting the students council elections in the month of February pointing out that holding the elections towards the end of the academic year would be an entirely pointless exercise, besides also depriving the students of professional colleges from contesting the elections since it is likely to clash with their exams.
