PANJIM: The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), Goa unit slammed the government for failing to provide proper Internet connection to the students of remote places in Goa.
“It is saddening to see that on one hand Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant proudly says that Goa is No 1 in terms of educational infrastructure while on the other hand he can’t even provide basic connectivity facilities to the students such as mobile network,” said NSUI Goa unit President Naushad Chowdhari, as he along with Valpoi Block President Dashrath Mandrekar and other NSUI leaders distributed free stationery to school going students in the remote Satre village in Sattari Taluka, to celebrate Independence Day, on Sunday.
“The students of Satre village have to go to Nagargao to attend their online classes which is 15 Kms away,” he said.
The NSUI leaders suggested that if one hotspot is created in the Temple situated at Satre all the students can come together to study and attend their online classes.
“The Chief Minister who says he is proud of being an Education Minister should look at the plight of these students and find remedy to the situation because the students are not at all proud of him,” said Chowdhari.
