Nuvem special gram sabha ends abruptly

MARGAO: The special gram sabha of Nuvem panchayat on Sunday ended abruptly as the panchayat body failed to produce the compliance report in respect queries raised in the audit report for 2011-12 by the auditors before gram sabha.
Former deputy sarpanch Jose Roque Andrade speaking to media after the meeting said the purpose of convening the special gram sabha by the sarpanch at the last gram sabha held in December was defeated with the failure to produce the compliance report before the special gram sabha.
Members pointed out that the gram sabha held in December last was adjourned after members raised questions over the observations made by the auditors contradictory to functioning of panchayat and demanding for a report on measurers taken as well as stringent rules and regulations followed for not repeating of similar flaws.
Former sarpanch Filipa Rosalina Barreto bending to the demand of gram sabha members requested to allow her to convening a special gram sabha to inform on compliance and deliberate on the issue. Sadly the newly elected sarpanch Ruben D’costa although a senior panchayat member pleaded that he being not aware of the issue be given time to put before the gram sabha the compliance report at the ordinary gram sabha convened on Sunday March 10.
The issue of video filming of the gram sabha proceeding was also discussed and the sarpanch was requested to get clarification on the same from concerned authorities.
