Margao:The villagers from across Nuvem constituency have dared Nuvem MLA Aleixo Sequeira to get the State government to scrap the proposed Solid Waste Management Plant (SWM) given that he had joined the BJP government for the development of the constituency and this project would only cause irreparable damage to the villages of his constituency.
Pointing out that when Sequeira was the Congress MLA, he had brought up the issue in the monsoon legislative Assembly session at the request of his constituents, the villagers recalled that the MLA had even drawn attention of the government to the fact that the proposed site of the SWM plant also happened to be located within the funnel zone of Dabolim Airport. It may be recalled that this demand for the MLA to get the project scrapped was raised at the Loutolim gram sabha as well.
