However, the people were unsatisfied as the panchayat couldn’t successfully take any of the discussions to a logical end. Various issues like drainage system, bad roads, absence of sign boards dumping of waste by the roads were discussed at the meeting. Members questioned the panchayat on the use of passing resolutions if they are not implemented.
Development and supervision committees were proposed at the gram sabha, however noone was ready to join in as committees formed in the past were ineffective.
“The drainage construction at Murda-Pequene is pending for a long time and as a result there is lot of water logging and nuisance. The works had to be done on priority basis,” said Jose Roque Andrade. The panchayat replied that the work would be carried out after the rains. The issue of the condition of roads in Nuvem was also raised, but it received no concrete reply from the panchayat.
The issue of road junctions between NH 17, new bypass and internal roads not having sign boards and causing inconvenience for people to cross and commute was also discussed.
