Margao: ‘O re San Joao’, a traditional form of San Joao celebrations will be organised for the 4th consecutive year at Colmorod Margao. The event is conceptualised by former Chairperson of MMC Savio Coutinho.
In the morning session, the women of Colmorod and Ratwado get together to prepare traditional delicacies like Patoleo, Holle, Sozz, Sanna etc. The highlight of the festival is the singing of San Joao songs as they prepare the dishes.
Later at noon, when the children are back from school, the residents get together and feast upon the San Joao meal prepared by the ladies which comprises of traditional Goan dishes.
Artificial rain provision are made at the venue and the music keeps the crowd in true spirit of the festival. The most important feature of the celebration is a match of ‘Taabla’ played between the ladies of Colmorod and ladies of Ratwado, and the people of the respective wards cheering their team.
Besides this, a ‘Copel’ and San Joao outfit competition’s and other fun games will be held on the occasion. This year a game of ‘Logorio’ will also be a part of the programme.
