PONDA: The Rashtriya OBC Mahasangh’s Goa State unit along with office bearers reminded Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to complete procedure at earliest for implementation of reservation (41 percent) policy declared for OBC, ST and SC in PG Courses at GMC from current academic year.
State president of the national OBC outfit, Madu Naik said that the Medical Council of India could declare counselling date procedure for PG courses any time soon and before that, reservation procedure should be completed so that the OBCs, STs and SCs aren’t deprived of reservation benefits this academic year.
“Back on May 11, government had announced and notified reservation policy for SCs, STs, and OBCs for PG courses at GMC and even had directed government departments to initiate procedure to implement the reservation from this year. However, the file has been only moving from one department to another, without any progress,” he said.
Naik said that he had recently met Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on two occasions and the latter had assured to look into the matter.
“In last 16 years, OBCs, STs and the SCs have lost 384 posts due to government’s delay in implementation of reservation for PG courses in GMC. The government had declared the policy in 2007, but failed to implement the same,” Naik said.
After permission by government, the Social Welfare Department will need to prepare the roster and following this, Director of Technical Education will be needed to publish prospectus.
“However, fifty days have passed, but the procedure is not yet complete as the file has almost stopped moving,” he alleged.
Meanwhile, the Mahasangh has filed complaint with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant against management of government-aided private schools and colleges, demanding action against them for not giving reservation benefits to OBCs and also not maintaining proper roaster system as well as manipulating it.
They expressed their unhappiness over approach of aided institutions towards this issue.
In a complaint, he said that managements of some private aided educational institutions in the State of Goa are manipulating the roaster by conniving with the officials of Social Welfare Department.
