MARGAO: Only one of the 30 village panchayats from Salcete talukas is yet to have its regular gram sabha that was supposed to be held on any Sunday of the month in January. However, the Orlim panchayat has fixed its gram sabha for March 11.
As some of the observers deputed by the BDO to the gram sabhas have not yet filed their reports, the BDO’s office assumed that nearly a dozen village panchayats did not hold the gram sabhas, scheduled for January.
The observers of Sarzora, Davorlim-Dicarpale, Curtorim, Chinchinim, Carmona, Benaulim, Betalbatim, Navelim and Sao Jose de Areal gram sabhas have still not submitted their reports.
Incidentally, while Camurlim and Velim held the gram sabhas on January 28, Ambelim held its gram sabha on January 21.
