MARGAO: The work of clearing obstructions in waterways connected to fields in Varca was undertaken for the benefit of the local farmers.
Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas said that this initiative was carried out after farmers had complained about the damage being caused to their fields which were getting inundated with water due to the fact that the passages for water to exit were blocked.
Farmers had been approaching various authorities for the same.
