Odisha man held with live bullet at Mopa Airport

PERNEM: The Mopa Airport police arrested an Odisha native for allegedly attempting to board a flight at the Manohar International Airport, Mopa, with a live bullet.

The accused has been identified as Surav Pattnnaik, a bank official, from Kendujhar in Odisha.

According to the police, Saurav was supposed to travel to Mumbai from the Mopa Airport in IndiGO Airlines flight at around 7.25 pm on Monday, May 27, 2024. 

While screening, the CISF personnel detected one live round of bullet (0.22) in his hand bag. 

“The accused could not produce a valid arms licence to carry and possess the round nor could he produce permission from the competent authority to carry the same in the aircraft,” a press release issued by Mopa police station stated.

An offence has been registered under Section 3 read with 25 of Arms Act 1959 and the case is being investigated by PSI Deepak Halarnkar of Mopa Airport Police Station under the guidance of Mopa Airport PI Narayan Chimulkar, Pernem SDPO Jivba Dalvi and SP North Akshat Kaushal.
