PANJIM: Four days after registering a criminal case against former Congress minister Joaquim Alemao and ex-MLA Anil Salgaonkar for alleged illegal mining, the special investigation team (SIT) on Friday registered an offence against NCP heavyweight Prafulla Hede.
This is the first case which is related to unlawful condonation of delay in filling the ‘J form’ which was accorded by the previous government.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), Hede carried out illegal mining operations for about 19 years from 1988 to 2007 in Collem, Sanguem. He has been booked under sections 4 (1) (1-A, 19 read with section 21 (1) (2) of Mines & Mineral (Development & Regulation) Act, 1957.
