MARGAO: A building with several offices located just 50 metres from the Police station was robbed by unknown persons. The offices of the former Chairperson and councillor of the Margao Municipal Council (MMC) Dr Babita Angle and Councillor Glen Andrade were broken open and robbed.
Offices on the ground floor, first, second and top floor of this building that’s located in the heart of the town, were robbed. Most of the robbed offices are of doctors. The doctors who had left cash in their drawers and others, which together came up to approximately Rs. 3 to 3.5 lakhs, were robbed by the persons involved in the crime.
The forensic team had arrived in the morning on Sunday and also on Monday to investigate the robbery.
Glen said, “The police have a lot to answer and investigate as thieves seem to strike institutions just behind the South Goa Police headquarters. The robbers have fooled the security persons and also removed the CCTV data.”
Glen had dollars worth at least 2 lakhs in his office that was stolen. Dr Babita also questioned the police.
“It’s been hardly some moths for the dastardly robbery and murder of (late) Swapnil Walke and now another robbery takes place. The victims in the robbery were categorically angry as the police took a whole lot of time to reach the crime scene and wondered what the plight of a common man would be if doctors and professionals are treated this way.”
