Official negligence turns Ponda bus stand into death trap, complain commuters and KTC officials

PONDA: Monsoon round the corner but there is no sign of repairs of roads at Ponda KTC bus stand. The demand for repair works of the roads was demanded repeatedly by the locals. KTC control room even informed PWD about it and urged for immediate attention toward the potholed service road and bus parking place, but in vain.  

The commuters, passengers, bus drivers are irked by the negligence towards the thirty-year old interstate KTC bus stand, which has gone bad to worse and eventually turned into a death trap as small potholes are expanding into big craters.

They demanded hot mix carpeting before monsoon for safety of passengers, students, bikers travelling on this road. 

Further, there is no painting done to bus stand and portion of bus stand building has also collapsed.

The locals demand Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant inspects the road and worst condition of KTC bus stand. They claimed since its inauguration it’s never properly maintained.  

One shop owners said during rainy season he often feels very sorry when college students passing through KTC road falls due to big pothole. He recalled that Chief Minister had promised to clear all potholes by November 1 and questioned why he missed the promised deadline.

KTC Officials said that they had informed to their higher officials about pathetic state of road at KTC bus stand. The officials on November 11 had written to PWD Division Eighteen for repairs of KTC bus stand.
