Officials assure to solve Netravali drinking water problem in 8 days

SANGUEM: Taking cognisance of a Herald report highlighting the regular drinking water supply problem in some parts of the village of Netravali-Sanguem, the water supply department officials and local MLA Prasad Gaonkar at a meeting held in the village assured to solve the problem within eight days.

It may be recalled that Herald in its edition dated May 1, 2020 had highlighted the plight of the villagers especially Amit Naik, who had also demanded a fixed time period for supplying water to the affected areas.

During the meeting, Assistant Engineer Gurunath B and the concerned Junior Engineer Sagar Kolambkar assured the villagers to solve irregular water supply issue in the village within the next eight days.

Gurunath informed the villagers that the department has issued a tender for the installation of filters in the water tanks supplying drinking water to the village to ensure that the villagers get clean and potable drinking water.

The officials also assured the villagers of regulating drinking water supply in the village by having fixed timings for releasing the water.

It was also decided to maintain a register to record the movement of the duty attendants at the tanks. The officials directed the attendants not to move to places unless it is necessary or directed by the higher officials.

It is pertinent to note here that the villager Amit Naik had complained of irregular water supply in the village and had also demanded for fixation of time for the release of water supply in the village.

Following Thursday’s meeting which was convened at the behest of local MLA Prasad Gaonkar, Naik complimented the MLA for taking up the issue seriously.
