VASCO: The officials of Water Resources Department (WRD), Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) and the Directorate of Health Services on Tuesday inspected the well at Matvem-Dabolim for contamination of water.
The officials are learnt to have collected water samples for testing. Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho who along with Chicalim sarpanch Kamla Prasad Yadav and panchayat members inspected the well, said that it was a clear cut case of leakage of pipelines or storage tanks of the oil companies.
He also hinted at registering an FIR to investigate whether there was any foul play in the incident.
Godinho said that this was the third incident reported in the Mormugao taluka, the other two being reported at Sancoale and Bogmalo a few years ago.
Stating that the leakages of petro could be due to lack of proper infrastructure, he assured the villagers that the oil tanking companies will be asked to take corrective measures and well water is restored for the use of the residents.
