Officials inspect food stalls at Colva fair, confiscate three cylinders

MARGAO: The officers of the Department of Civil Supplies conducted an inspection on Wednesday of the temporary eateries that are operating at the Colva fair and confiscated three domestic gas cylinders from one of the eateries.
Six officers, accompanied by two constables from the Colva Police station, inspected three eateries which were open at around 11 am. While two eateries used commercial gas cylinders, the third was using domestic gas cylinders.
Interestingly, just a few days ago the FDA had directed all the temporary eateries to shut down since they did not have FDA licence. Also, none of the stalls were given permission or NOC by the Colva Panchayat.
“With this raid, I hope that in the future such restaurant owners will follow the law and think twice before doing such illegal activities,” said Judith Almeida, a member of Colva Civic and Consumer forum.
Later in the day, the Goa State Pollution Control Board officials also inspected all the stalls for plastic waste and sanitation.
