Officials inspect Pernem fish market

PERNEM: Taking cognisance of a Herald report highlighting the bad condition of the Pernem fish market, the Pernem Municipal Council and PWD officials inspected the market.
In its in July 25 edition, the daily had published a report highlighting the bad condition of the fish market wherein the fish vendors and consumers had complained of water logging and roof leakage. 
The vendors and consumers had attributed the sorry state of the fish market building to the Pernem municipality’s lethargic attitude.
However, after inspecting the market, Deputy Chairman Siddesh Pednekar assured to make temporary arrangements by covering the roof with plastic sheets and informed the vendors that the file of the new market complex project is being processed. 
Those present for the inspection were Chief Officer Mandar Naik, Pernem Market Committee President Deepak Mandrekar and others.
At least 15 fish vendors conduct business at the market risking their lives.
