VALPOI: After detaining an ore-laden Karnataka truck at Honda-Sattari, Valpoi Police has decided to
submit the documents supplied by the contractor to the various government agencies on Monday, to
ascertain if the transportation of ore was legal or not.
The truck, which was proceeding from Redi-Maharashtra to Pissurlem, was intercepted by police at
Honda-Sattari in the wee hours of Friday.
Valpoi police will also visit Reddi to ascertain the claims of those who are being investigated in the
connection.
According to police, the documents submitted by contractor will be sent to concerned departments,
including the mines department and the RTO for verification on Monday.
The truck, which was detained at the Valpoi Police Station, has now been shifted to the Honda police
outpost, while the truck driver is still under detention at the Valpoi police station for further
investigations.
Sources informed that the police will also verify the weight of the iron ore to ascertain if the truck was
carrying the permissible quantity of ore in the truck.
Valpoi police had detained the truck (KA-22-B-4829) in the wee hours of Friday, after the driver had
failed to produce relevant documents, including the transit slip and invoice.
The contractor then went to the police station later in the evening and submitted some documents,
which are being verified by the police. PSI Uday Gawde is investigating the case under the supervision
of PI Ramesh Gaonkar.
