Officials To assist 2681 persons with disabilities

Of the 21 Assembly constituencies, 2681 persons with disabilities will be provided assistance by the South Goa District Election Officer. Around 810 polling stations will have 416 wheelchairs to help the differently-abled. 
Nodal Officer for Persons with Disabilities for South Goa, Agnelo Fernandes, said all Persons with Disabilities have been identified and the type of disability has also been identified. The South Goa Nodal Officer will coordinate with nodal officers appointed to each Constituency. Three to 7 sector officers are appointed for each Assembly segment. This sector officer is in charge of 7 to 10 polling stations. Sector officers are provided with dedicated vehicles. 
They will ferry across the voters and drop them after casting their vote. Whenever there is a requirement for a wheelchair support, it will be in place at the respective polling station. Two NSS volunteers would accompany each of the 95 sector officers to cover each polling station.
