Old Goa Police Bust Human Trafficking Ring: 3 Arrested, 6 Rescued

In a significant breakthrough, Old Goa police have apprehended three individuals and successfully rescued six young girls from Nepal who were allegedly forced into prostitution at an illicitly operated dance bar within a newly established pub near the Ribandar-Panjim causeway, just a few kilometres from the capital city. 

The alleged orchestrators of this disturbing prostitution racket, 38-year-old Mahesh Hegde and his wife 24-year-old Kashmira Hegde alias Ridham Lama, both natives of Karnataka, were taken into custody. Their accomplice 24-year-old Deepa Shai Thakuri from Nepal was also arrested in connection with the case.

This operation sheds light on the alarming issue of sex trafficking, emphasizing the gravity of the situation. Human trafficking is a serious crime that exploits individuals and poses a significant threat to their well-being. The Old Goa police are actively investigating the case, aiming to dismantle the alleged prostitution racket and bring the perpetrators to justice.
