PANJIM: The Old Goa police in a joint operation with Belagavi, Hukeri Police arrested a long absconding accused from Merces.
Mahesh Parasappa Gudli, 34, a native of Jamkhandi, Bagalkot, Karnataka involved in a cheating case registered in Hukkeri Police station was finally arrested.
The accused reportedly cheated the complainant for an amount of Rs 13 lakh. It is suspected that accused also cheated many others in Karnataka and Goa for an amount of nearly Rs 80 lakh.
The accused was evading arrest by changing his location since September 2022 in Karnataka and then shifted to Goa. Upon information about his movement in Goa, the Karnataka police contacted their Old Goa counterparts and nabbed the culprit at Merces on Friday.
