OLD GOA: Acting on a representation from Milroc Tenants Association, the SE-Old Goa Panchayat on Wednesday issued a stop work order to a private company for erecting a mobile tower at Baiginium besides the Milroc Housing Colony.
Speaking to Herald, SE-Old Goa Sarpanch Vinayak Fadte said, “Today we issued a stop work order to a private company for erecting a mobile tower without obtaining the Panchayat NOC and GSPCB clearance certificate. The Panchayat had given them an in principle approval and a final NOC would be given to them on furnishing all the necessary clearances.”
He added, “The private company had directly started work and erected the tower without necessary permissions. In principle approval is given only to complete all procedures and not start work. In this regard we have directly issued a stop work order.” The sarpanch said that Sandeep Naik had filed a complaint in February last year regarding the same mobile tower installation in which the party had gone ahead in constructing the foundation for the tower without the approvals from the Panchayat and acting on the complaint the project was stalled.
“The tower was erected overnight and is just 20 meters from my flat balcony. The radiations from these towers are extremely dangerous and the tower in such close proximity will affect the residents,” Naik said.
