Old Patto Bridge opens for 2-way traffic on trial basis

The Old Patto Bridge in Panjim was on Saturday open for two-way vehicular flow on trial basis. Superintendent of (Traffic) Police Arvind Gawas informed that the traffic flow of two-wheelers was moderate being a weekend.
“We will get the actual picture on Monday during rush hours as it is the working day. Being a weekend the traffic was fewer today,” said the officer.
In a bid to decongest busy roads during peak hours, traffic police, last week decided to make the Old Patto Bridge two-way for two-wheelers with effect from September 4 between 9 am to 10:30am.
Traffic Inspector Roy Pereira, who personally controlled the vehicle movement along with his staff, told Herald that 50 percent of the total two wheelers strength entering the city diverted to the new route.
The traffic is controlled near Hotel Sona, the challenging spot to the traffic police and at La Vista Lodge junction to provide smooth and safe traffic flow. The move will ease out congestion while entering capital city along D B Road.
