Panjim: Continuous heavy rains has brought down several structures, trees and landslides in the state. On Wednesday afternoon, a Portuguese-era building adjacent to Greet bakery came crashing down due to the heavy down pour, as this building was old and no one living in it no casualties were reported. The incident occurred at around 1.45 in the afternoon.
The entire road was blocked with the debris fallen on the road, this resulted in traffic jam for nearly an hour. The fire officials rushed to the spot and made space for the vehicles to pass.
Later within no time the CCP Mayor Rohit Monserratte along with other councillors and officials reached the spot. When the media questioned Panjim Mayor about the flooding situation and such incidents, he said that CCP has identified 80 such structure which needs taken care of, he also added that he corporation would work out a permanent solution to the waterlogging of roads in the area after the monsoon.
