Olencio, Gopi join Congress

VASCO: Members of a fishermen’s union, Olencio Simoes and Gopi Naik joined the Congress at the induction ceremony held at Cortalim.

Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Girish Chodankar, Opposition Leader Digambar Kamat and Akhilesh Yadav were present.

Simoes along with committee members of Goa United Workmen’s Union (GUWU) and Goenchea Raponkarancho Ekvott submitted memorandum to the Chodankar and Kamat to solve the pending demands of fishing community and workmen’s issues of Goa. They demanded that 6 rivers nationalised be denotified and the three liner projects and 4 MPT port expansion plans be scrapped

Chodankar accused the BJP of destroying the Matanhy Saldanha’s legacy and added that the Congress always respected him and his vision for Goa.

“The BJP has to be defeated as it is the communal and fascist government and is all out to destroy our environment,” Kamat alleged. 

Simoes said, “Along with Congress, I will work towards complete overhaul of the administrative system in Goa as every department is a failure and it is a shame that we are lagging even after years of Independence.” 

He said Goa has only one hope either vote for BJP and destroy Goa or Vote for Congress and Save Goa as there is no other option.
