PANJIM: The Education department has decided to deduct one day’s payment to self-help groups that failed to abide by the revised mid-day meal scheme as students of Government High School, Quepem and Government Middle School, Curti-Ponda were supplied pulao instead of chapati-bhaji on Monday.
“We have decided to deduct the salary of the self help groups concerned. Despite the order, they supplied pulao to the students on day one of the revised scheme’s implementation on Monday,” Education Director G P Bhat told Herald
The scheme, covering all government and aided primary to high schools, had replaced pulao with chapati-bhaji as pulao often went waste as students were not keen on it.
As per the new scheme, students will be supplied chapati-bhaji thrice a week and pao/poli-bhaji on the remaining three days.
