On Statehood Day, Goa copies Maharashtra’s nomenclature for its Secretariat, to call it ‘Mantralaya’

PANJIM: The State government has copied Maharashtra’s nomenclature and will now call its Minister’s Block, Porvorim as ‘Mantralaya’ from Statehood Day.

Maharashtra too calls its secretariat and minister’s offices including that of the Chief Minister’s Office as ‘Mantralaya’.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will inaugurate the refurbished Mantralaya in the presence of Cabinet Ministers and other officials at 10 am on Tuesday.

The Chief Minister’s office will now be located on the top floor. All the chambers allotted to Ministers have also been given new names-plates.

The Minister’s Block was built at Porvorim about 13 years ago and it has a corridor linking the Secretariat. Strict restrictions have been imposed on the movement of public in the Mantralaya other than government officers and staff.
