ON THE HIGHWAY TO POWER

It’s sharp 8.30 am at Old Goa and Fialho Xavier, who is the Congress candidate in Cumbarjua constituency, begins his door-to-door campaigning. Xavier is running against time to complete his campaigning as Congress had announced his candidature a trifle late and his supporters feel that the asking rate is too high.
“As there was delay in allotment of ticket, I was left with very little time for campaigning but I am pleased to the kind of support and warmth from voters for Congress in Divar, Cumbarjua, Korlim and Old Goa. There is a complete anti-BJP and anti-Madkaikar wave,” said Xavier.
Xavier asked people to vote for the Congress in the coming elections for all round development. “During my campaigning, people approached me and and discussed several issues on which the BJP has failed to resolve. Mainly people discussed issues like employment and the state of bad roads in the constituency” he said.
As his campaign takes shape, more and more supporters join him in delivering the party manifesto to each and every household.
As he moves into the narrow lanes of Cumbarjua, Xavier was seen getting overwhelming response from the locals there in which people were speaking against the BJP for taking U-turns.
Sharp at 1.45 pm, the team huddled for lunch which is served at the venue and after a brief rest, campaigning begins at 3.30 pm and goes on till at 9.30 pm.
