One acquitted in Khareband attempt to murder case

The South Goa Sessions Court on Wednesday acquitted Guruppa Zamune who was charged by the Margao for the attempt to murder one Shiva Latur at Khareband last year.
The accused was acquitted by Assistant Sessions Judge Anil Scaria for want of evidence. The prosecution had examined eight witnesses in support of its case, but that did not find favour with the court.
In this case, the victim Shiva Latur had suffered multiple stab injuries after he was stabbed on July 12, 2009 on his abdomen, neck, cheek after being allegedly by the accused, who is a driver employed in a government department. The incident had occurred over some previous enmity between the victim and the accused, the police had charged.
