PANJIM: The Special Court, Panjim on Friday rejected bail application of Anjuna Panch Hanumant Govekar, arrested in a case of extortion last week. Another Panch Surendra Govekar, also arrested in the case, was however fortunate to be granted conditional bail.
The Anti Corruption Branch (ACB) had arrested two panchas Hanumant and Surendra for allegedly demanding huge bribe from a businessman.

Samar Merchant had lodged a complaint alleging that Surendra, Sheetal and Hanumant have been demanding extortion amount from him.
It was hereafter that Merchant approached the ACB with a formal complaint against the trio. Sheetal, who is on the run had applied for anticipatory bail, and the Court has reserved the plea for order, on Monday.
