Bicholim police have successfully apprehended a suspect involved in the theft at the Shirodkar Kulswami temple in Mulgao. The accused, identified as Guresab Kalimani, a 35-year-old resident of Mulgao in Bicholim, Goa, and native of Saudatta Belgaum, Karnataka, was taken into custody on charges of breaking and entering the sacred premises.
The incident came to light on the 9th of March when Radhakrishna Ghodge, the President of Shri Dev Ravalnath Mahalaxmi Devastan Mulgao, reported the theft of a metal donation box (funds peti) from the revered Shirodkar Kulswami temple. The complainant filed the report at the Bicholim police station.
SDPO Pernem, Jivba Dalvi, presently overseeing Bicholim, spearheaded the investigation. Within two hours of receiving the complaint, dedicated teams, led by PI Dinesh Gadekar, PSI Vikesh Hadfadkar, PC Vishal Parab, PC Pranjal Velingkar, and PC Mayur Asulkar, worked tirelessly to crack the case.
The accused, Guresab Kalimani, was apprehended under sections 454, 457, and 380 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The police successfully recovered the stolen property, including cash and the pilfered donation box, during the course of the investigation.
The meticulous handling of the case, coordinated efforts of the investigation team, and the swift action by the Bicholim police reflect their commitment to maintaining law and order. SDPO Pernem, Jivba Dalvi, acknowledged the dedication of the police personnel involved in the case.
The overall supervision of the operation was under the guidance of SP North IPS Akshat Kaushal, ensuring a prompt and efficient resolution to the temple theft case. The arrested individual will now face legal proceedings as the investigation continues.
