MARGAO: A 37-year-old resident of Borsulem-Cuelim, Cansaulim was assaulted by four persons while returning home at Vosoilem, Cansaulim, by crushing a laterite stone on his head and attempting to commit murder, in the intervening night of Thursday-Friday.
Verna Police Station Police Inspector Prashal Dessai based on the complaint has registered an offence against the four alleged accused under Section 307 read with 34 of IPC for attempt to commit murder.
According to police, Antonio Joao Soares (36), resident of Borsulem-Cuelim, Cansaulim was admitted at the South Goa District Hospital, Margao in an unconscious state.
Monica Fernandes, wife of Antonio, has lodged a complaint with Verna Police alleging that in the intervening night of Thursday-Friday, the four accused persons namely Cleny, Raju, Nixon and Joel assaulted her husband, with common intention to commit murder, with fist blows and kicks on his body and further crushed a laterite stone on his head causing serious injuries.
According to police sources, five of them including the injured were attending one function organised in a nearby house. The four accused entered into an argument with Antonio over some previous issue and after sometime, all left that house. However, the four accused stopped Antonio on his way home and started an argument with him before assaulting. Incidentally, one woman from a house in the vicinity made noise and alerted the neighbours. The four accused fled from the spot. Statement of the injured is yet to be recorded as he is still in unconscious state.
