One child missing, two rescued after venturing into sea at Betul

MARGAO: Two children were rescued while one remains missing after a fishing expedition in the Betul River took a perilous turn.

 Cuncolim PI Diogo Gracias said that the three youngsters from the Betul area went fishing in the river on Wednesday evening. Subsequently, they decided to venture into the sea for a bath, but the current swept them away. While Arav Vadekar, 11, and Sairaj Sawant, 14, were rescued and received medical attention, Siaraj Joshi, 11, disappeared. 

Gracias said that a search operation was immediately launched, but Siaraj could not be located. The police have notified the coast guard, and efforts are ongoing to locate the missing minor boy. Officers and staff have been stationed at Betul to assist in the search operation, added police sources.
