BICHOLIM: A 44-year-old motorcycle rider Abhay Vasant Paranjape from Gokulwadi-Sanquelim died in a self accident near Amona junction on Sunday night after getting blinded due to full headlights of an oncoming vehicle.
According to Bicholim police, the deceased who was a temple priest by profession along with a pillion rider (whom he had given a lift) was proceeding from Sanquelim-Virdi short cut road via Amona towards Ponda at about 10.30 pm. However, when he reached near Amona junction road by crossing Virdi-Amona Bridge he got dazzled off due to a full light of oncoming vehicle due to which he lost control and fell down on the road.
Locals who witnessed the accident rushed both of them to PHC Sanquelim by calling 108 Ambulance. However, the decease succumbed to his head injuries while he was being about to be shifted to GMC and Hospital, Bambolim.
Pillion rider was discharged after primary treatment. Panchanama was conducted by Bicholim police.
