CANACONA: An accident in Cotigao, Canacona on Wednesday evening resulted in the death of one and the other battling for his life.
Dilkush Gaonkar, 33, resident of Yeda, Cotigao was proceeding to Avem on his motorcycle rammed into an oncoming bike ridden by Ramdas Gaonkar. Dilkush suffered grievous head and leg injuries and Ramdas suffered a jaw fracture. Both were shifted by 108 ambulance to the Canacona health centre. On learning about the seriousness of the accident victims, the local MLA Isidore Fernandes rushed to the hospital at Chaudi, Canacona. Since the health centre lacks emergency facilities after first aid both were shifted to Hospicio Hospital Margao. Due to serious injuries to the head and thigh, Dilkush Gaonkar died. The other rider Ramdas Gaonkar suffered a broken jaw and other injuries and was referred to GMC. The case is investigated by PSI Remedios D’ Souza.
