One dies in road accident at Asode, Sattari

PORIEM: A rickshaw driver was killed and two other injured when the public-carrier rickshaw collided against an oncoming pickup tempo at Asode Sattari on Friday afternoon. 

The victim has been identified as Anand Chari, a resident of Maulinguem-Bicholim.

According to the locals, the accident occurred when Chari was heading towards Gawane from Asode Sattari at around 2 pm and the pickup tempo was coming from opposite direction. The impact of the head-on collision was such that the rikshaw was toppled after colliding the pickup tempo, a resident of Gawane said. 

It is learnt that the rickshaw driver was carrying bags of cashew nuts in his vehicle and was on the way to nearby village Gawane. 

Locals alleged that the pickup tempo driver from Bihar was in an intoxicated condition at the time of incident. 

The Valpoi police conducted the panchanama and sent the body to the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim for post-mortem examination and are investigating the case.
