BICHOLIM: Barely a day after three youth from Porvorim drowned in the Tillari river in Maharashtra, a youth from Narve-Bicholim met a watery grave while another was feared drowned at Bhironda-Sattari on Tuesday.
According to reports, a group of eight persons from Bicholim had gone for a swim in a tributary of the Mhadei River at Bhironda when Rohidas Mayekar (25) from Narve drowned, while Raju Wadiyar (25) from Mayem was feared drowned.
“A group of eight persons had gone for a picnic after their work and they reached the spot at about 3 pm. However as they were swimming one of them started drowning and when the other person went to save him, he was taken away by the deadly waters,” police sources told Herald.
Locals informed Valpoi Police, who, along with fire force personnel rushed to the site.
Sources informed that fire and police personnel with the help of locals retrieved the body of Rohidas, while a search operation was still in progress to find the other missing person.
“We have sent the body for post mortem and investigation is in progress,” said police sources.
