MARGAO: Margao Sessions Court on Thursday granted conditional bail to one Nilesh Gaonkar (27), resident of Morpila-Quepem, who has allegedly raped one girl from Morpirla and made her pregnant. Later, the victim abandoned the newly born baby behind one house at Morpirla.
Gaonkar had made an anticipatory bail application before the court. Cuncolim Police has registered the case.
The court passed the order stating that Gaonker shall be released on execution of personal bond of Rs 20,000 with one local surety in the like sum to the satisfaction of the investigating police officer with conditions.
According to Cuncolim Police, the applicant allegedly raped the victim in her house on three occasions, which resulted in the victim’s pregnancy and giving birth to a baby boy on December 30. The victim has also alleged that the applicant threatened her with dire consequences to kill her and family members if she discloses the offence of rape committed upon her.
The court in its order observed that although the victim has attributed her pregnancy to the applicant, the say of the respondent number two, itself reveals that the examination report for DNA profiling is in the negative.
