PERNEM: Pernem Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) on Saturday remanded one Jinson Joseph (22), native of Nedumkandam Idukki, Kerala, to five days police custody, for stealing mobile handsets and accessories worth Rs 80,000.
According to Pernem Police Station Police Inspector Jivba Dalvi, on May 17, 2021, an unknown person had broken into one mobile store at Mandrem and stolen mobiles and other accessories. Acting on the complaint, Pernem Police registered an offence against unknown person under Section 380, 454, 457 of Indian Penal Code and during investigation surveillance was kept on all International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) numbers of all the stolen mobile phones and one such mobile showed activity in Kerala.
Accordingly, a team consisting of Police Sub-Inspector Praful Giri, Constables Sagar Karjovekar and Rohan Velgeykar headed to Kerala and the alleged accused person and stolen property was recovered consisting of four mobiles phones, five power banks, seven memory cards, eight mobile chargers and cards, and pen drives all worth Rs 80,000. The accused was brought to Pernem on Transit Remand from Kerala.
