BICHOLIM: The Animal Rescue Squad (ARS) along with the Bicholim police on Friday raided an illegal slaughterhouse and seized about 400 kg of bull meat from Nagzarwada, Bicholim.
According to the information available, acting on a tip-off ARS chief Amrut Singh went to Nagzarwada and found one Bepari slaughtering bulls at the site. The Bicholim police was contacted and subsequently meat along with a vehicle was seized.
The police also arrested Bepari and sealed the godown.
A veterinarian later visited the site said there were three bulls which were slaughtered illegally and the meat could weigh about 400 kgs.
The ARS chief asked the Bicholim Municipal Council to demolish the illegal site, as this activity was going on repeatedly.
