POINGUINIM: Four armed persons, including a Goan, attempted to murder a goldsmith at Kajubag, Karwar.
One of them was later arrested in this connection. It is learnt that the goldsmith was about to get out of his bungalow, when four persons attacked him with sharp weapons. When Netalkar’s neighbours heard him scream and rushed to his aid, the assailants fled away in a car that was parked a little distance away from the scene of assault. However, one assailant was unable to flee in the car and ran away. Karwar PSI Anand Murthy and HC Dyaneshwar chased him and nabbed him at Karwar beach. He was found carrying two pistols and he identified himself as Banti Chaudhary from Agra. Karwar police disclosed that two assailants hailed from Agra, while one of them, identified as Sanju, hails from Goa.
The police did not divulge much, but said that all border check posts have been alerted to nab those persons who escaped from the crime. Chaudhary is in police custody and will be produced in the court tomorrow.
Netalkar is undergoing treatment at a hospital with injuries and police persons refused to divulge any details.
