MARGAO: Sachit Borkar, 46, a resident of Malbhat, Margao, who was assaulted by a person succumbed to his injuries at Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim on Monday.
According to the police, Borkar was assaulted by a person following an argument in front of a kiosk near the Konkan Railway station on Sunday night. The accused assaulted Borkar and later hit a wooden stool on his head injuring Borkar seriously.
Borkar was first rushed to a hospital in Margao and then shifted to the GMC, Bambolim where he died on Monday.
Following Borkar’s death, residents from Malbhat, Margao marched to the police station and demanded the immediate arrest of the assailant.
The Margao police later arrested Laxman Chavan alias Pika from Moti Dongor, Margao and are conducting investigations. A case under section 302 of IPC has been registered in this connection.
